In the world of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) there is a lot of complex information available to those that specialize in the SEO industry.
I am not an SEO guru “yet” it’s a work in progress. Below are ten fairly simple SEO tips for small businesses that can help your website:
- Your content
To start have well written content that is updated regularly. - Coverage – like a showcase
It’s important to have a “News” section within your website to provide your clients and visitors with new and/or updated content. - Keywords (word or short phrase that describes a website topic or page)
Use of Google Analytics and Keyword Planner can get you on the right track of your goal of optimizing your website. For example by showing the historical statistics of keyword phrases. - Phrases
It is important to identify the key words and phrases that your customers are most likely to use to search for your site. Incorporate them into the copy and code of your website. Try to select low competition words for your key phrases. - Keyword Ratio
Keep the entire words ratio in your pages between 2% to 4%. “Why” you ask? So Search Engines don’t consider you a spammer!
Don’t pick single word Choose Word Phrases it will give you more search engine impressions in different word formations.
Use synonyms of the words you have chosen
Optimize your title, h1, image alt tags with the key phrase

Add more visible focus on your keywords by using bold or italics for their text styling - Images
When you use images optimize them for search engines by using your keywords in your image title and your “alt” tag - Videos
Tag your videos with proper keywords to help raise your rankings in Search Engines - Hyperlinks
Hyperlink phrases that contain your keywords. Google recommends:
Use links to highlight relevant words or phrases.
Use links to move readers between your own Web pages. For example: Let’s Get Started
Don’t over link. A sea of blue links means nothing will stand out. - Analytics
Check your website regularly using Google Analytics and other search engines
